Pjetër Guralumi - Cello/IRC - Albania

Prof. Pjetër Guralumi is an Albanian Cellist born in Tirana on 24.05.1966 and educated in a family of a musical tradition, where he got the first cello lessons from his father, Mateo Guralumi.

Pjetër Guralumi has continued his regular studies at “Jordan Misja” Artistic School, Gjovalin Lazri Cello class (1980 – 1984) and at the High Institute of Arts (actually called the University of Arts) in Tirana at Prof. Gjergj Antoniu’s cello class graduating with the highest results (1986-1990).

 

Prof. Guralumi has continued to develop his Cello and Chamber Music performance following Valentin Erben’s class, Vienna’s University of Music as a scholarship beneficiary of Tempus Programme in March 1997, and specializations at the famous cello classes in Europe, such as  Enrico Dindo’s  Cello class in Accademia “Alessandro Rolla”, Pavia Italy (1999), Mario Brunello's  Cello class (2000-2001) at Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento Musicale "Fondazione Romano Romanini" Brescia and again at Enrico Dindo’s Cello class at Accademia Musicale Pescarese in 2005.

 

Pjetër Guralumi is the First Prize Winner of “Nikolla Zoraqi” Competition – December 1994, in the category of Soloists and, through his career, has made the first performances of more than 40 Albanian Compositions and around 30 International contemporary composers in various festivals and competitions organized in Albania, contributing to the composer’s success and the award of distinguished prizes.

 

Pjetër Guralumi’s repertoire includes composers from baroque style to the contemporary ones and he has successfully performed in important concert stages of International Festivals of Albania's musical life and in various countries in Europe like Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France, Greece, Macedonia, Croatia, Kosovo, Spain and USA.

 

Guralumi has regularly been part in the International Concert Series called “Allegretto Albania” and “KLASIK”, collaborating with well-known artists like A. Reiner, A. Ferraro, M. Cattarossi, E. Favata, A. Tinelli, G. Mazzocante, S. Mullaj, M. Palumbo, D. Sulejmani, T. Jurkic Sviven, A. Doci, T. Vuksic. Recent concerts have seen Guralumi collaborating with Sh. Baftiari, L. Lila, A. Metaj, B. Metellari, Xh. Gavelli, B. Durmishaj, etc.

 

 

Pjetër Guralumi plays a beautiful Ch. Olivier – P. Bisch Cello made in France in 1928 and restored from J.J. Fasnacht (Switzerland) in 2002 and has made CD recordings with LABOR RECORDS – USA and DAD RECORDS – Italy.

 

Since 1990 Prof. Guralumi is a teaching staff at the University of Arts Tirana and from 2010 - 2020, he has founded the Cello Class (for the first time) in the Faculty of Arts in Tetovo FYROM, too.
